Pangea launches AI Detection and Response to close gaps in generative AI security

Pangea Cyber Corp., a startup providing security guardrails for artificial intelligence applications today announced the launch of Pangea AI Detection and Response.

It’s a new security platform to monitor, detect and secure generative AI across the enterprise, covering employee AI use, homegrown AI applications and AI factories. Pangea AIDR is being pitched as marking a major turning point in how organizations can defend themselves against emerging AI threats like sensitive data leakage to large language models.

Pangea argues that existing security controls leave significant AI visibility and detection gaps around threats such as indirect prompt injection and excessive agency. AIDR, by contrast, allows security teams to shift from reactive governance to proactive AI oversight to innovate even faster.

“With generative AI we’re witnessing the fastest software adoption curve in history, but also the fastest-growing security blind spot,” said founder and Chief Executive Oliver Friedrichs (pictured, second from left). “Pangea is scaling quickly to meet this challenge and our AIDR platform fits seamlessly into existing security operation workflows and technology stacks and is part of a larger wave of innovations we’re bringing to market to address AI attack surfaces.”

AIDR is built with Pangea’s AI Guard technology at its core to deliver AI sensors that deploy across a range of form factors to feed telemetry into an AI policy control and threat detection engine. The engine then provides alerts and logs viewable via an analyst console and the ability to trigger automatic AI response and control actions.

The new service offers AI security with full visibility into AI tool usage across browsers, applications, agents, gateways and cloud infrastructure, which allows organizations to track when and how tools are used. AIDR also enforces consistent access and data policies across large language models, agentic applications, shadow AI tools and development environments through a unified policy engine.

Additionally, the service leverages Pangea’s detection technology to identify and block advanced generative AI threats, including prompt injection, jailbreaks and data leakage.

Early access features of AIDR include Chrome browser monitoring to detect shadow AI usage, an agentic framework for software development kits, a Model Context Protocol proxy for securing developer-built LLM agents, and cloud service provider log analysis for visibility into Amazon Web Services-based AI activity. The platform also supports protection for AI gateways such as Kong and LiteLLM, integrates the Pangea SDK for application-level AI security and ingests OpenTelemetry log formats to enhance observability across cloud-native environments.

The early release of AIDR will start on July 31, with general availability expected on Sept. 1. Future support, expected in the third quarter, will include GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Edge and additional AI touchpoints critical to enterprise workflows.
