Firecrawl raises $14.5M to grow AI-ready web data infrastructure

Developer platform startup Firecrawl (SideGuide Technologies Inc.) announced today that it has raised $14.5 million in new funding.

Founded in 2022, Firecrawl offers a developer-first platform designed to make the web’s constantly changing information accessible and usable for artificial intelligence. The company offers a suite of tools that allow developers and AI teams to crawl, search and extract clean, structured, machine-readable data from across the open web.

Core to the Firewall’s offering is Fire Engine, an AI-driven scraping engine that outperforms legacy scrapers on both speed and reliability. According to the company, Fire Engine delivers structured web data 33% faster and with 40% higher success rates, ensuring that AI systems receive the freshest and most accurate signals.

Firecrawl’s open-source framework has quickly become a favorite among developers, racking up more than 43,000 stars on GitHub. The company’s lightweight application programming interface lets teams pull structured data from virtually any website with a single line of code, allowing new applications to slot directly into existing workflows without the usual integration overhead.

The platform also goes beyond traditional crawling, with the inclusion of intelligent search, natural-language data extraction and content structuring that make it ideal for large language models and AI-driven applications.

“The web holds most of human knowledge, but it’s messy, constantly changing and hard to work with,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Caleb Peffer. “Firecrawl makes that data accessible, structured and ready for large language models.”

Firecrawl has seen strong growth, with more than 350,000 users using the platform. Notable customers include OpenAI, Alibaba.com Ltd., PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Zapier Inc., Shopify Inc. and Replit Inc.

Nexus Venture Partners led the Series A round, with Y Combinator, Zapier and a number of individual investors, including Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke, Postman Inc. CEO Abhinav Asthana and Mux Inc. founder Matt McClure also participating.

“Clean, comprehensive web data is crucial for the next wave of AI,” said Abhishek Sharma, managing director of Nexus Venture Partners. “Firecrawl’s developer-first platform delivers it simply, reliably, and at scale.”

The new funding takes the total raised by Firecrawl to $16.2 million.
