Process intelligence is changing how businesses operate, from enterprise technology to the life science industry.
By partnering with Celonis SE, a process intelligence and AI platform, Bayer AG has been able to meet increasingly complex infrastructure requirements. The pharmaceutical and life science company focuses on what new tools such as process mining and agentic AI can actually add to its services.

Bayer’s Timo Peters (right) talks about his close partnership with Celonis.
“You need to create a value add,” said Timo Peters (pictured), head of process insights and value at Bayer. “Sometimes it’s … value of money, so very important for companies, but from a user point of view, you also want to improve the way of how they’re handling things. You need to build the trust. And we have a saying, ‘Technology sparks the change, but mindset and culture is doing the change.’”
Peters spoke with theCUBE’s Savannah Peterson and Rob Strechay at Celosphere 25, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Bayer and Celonis’s long-time collaboration and implementing AI agents. (* Disclosure below.)
A key part of weathering the transition to agentic AI is change management, according to Peters. He emphasizes the need for careful implementation of new technologies and keeping in mind how it might affect the company culture.
“We’re going to be permanently improving the processes,” he said. “We’re starting to apply AI. I think this is a great thing, but yes, you also need to control them. You need to look at your agents, are they still doing the right stuff? You can use process mining for this.”
Bayer was Celonis’s third customer; now it is now one of this year’s “Celonis Champions.” Peters views his fellow champions positively, highlighting the need for collaboration across the life science industry.
“You can’t move alone,” he added. “If you’re looking into the life science or pharma industry, there are certain kind of relation [that] we all need to have. We have a common interest that they really get, also, as a product implemented inside of Celonis. We can help each other in that other sense.”
