Upwind rolls out Choppy AI to bring transparent natural-language security to cloud workloads

Cloud security platform provider Upwind Security Inc. today announced the general availability of Choppy AI, a new set of artificial intelligence-powered capabilities embedded across its runtime-first cloud-native application protection platform.

Choppy AI introduces natural-language-driven experiences that Upwind claims make cloud security exploration, investigation and analysis faster and more intuitive while also providing full transparency, control and trust for security teams.

The new AI offering seeks to assist with the issue that, as cloud environments grow more complex, security teams are required to manage increasingly large inventories, relationships, configurations and vulnerabilities. Upwind argues that while AI has the potential to simplify this work, most AI-driven security tools operate as black boxes, producing answers without exposing the logic behind them. Choppy AI, however, takes a different approach.

“Choppy AI is designed to make cloud security exploration and investigation faster and more intuitive while making the logic behind it clear and auditable,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Amiram Shachar. “By translating natural-language intent into structured, editable queries and rules, we’re giving teams the speed of AI with the transparency and control they need to trust the outcome.”

Choppy AI translates natural-language intent into structured, fully visible logic that security teams can inspect, edit and reuse across the platform. The AI-generated outputs remain transparent and enforceable to ensure that teams retain ownership over how decisions are made.

The offering doesn’t operate as a black box or replace existing workflows, but instead augments them by accelerating analysis and grounding every result in the same runtime and contextual data that powers Upwind’s CNAPP.

Using Choppy AI, security teams can explore cloud assets, define security logic and investigate risk using natural language across the platform. Users can also search inventories using free-text input, which Choppy AI converts into clear, customizable Query Builder expressions that make it easier to express intent while seeing how each condition is defined.

Teams can also use Choppy AI for security policy creation. The AI can translate plain language configurations or relationship-based logic into transparent, editable rules used to detect misconfigurations and evaluate exposure paths without manually building queries or graph logic.

Another feature of the offering, a vulnerability module, offers an interactive AI mode that enables conversational investigation. Security teams can ask questions, follow up iteratively and explore vulnerabilities directly within the platform, with the delivered responses grounded in real assets, relationships and runtime exposure to help prioritize what truly matters.

Choppy AI is now generally available to all Upwind customers.
