IBM connects enterprise AI orchestration, continuous oversight and sovereignty to production challenges as practitioners prepare for IBM TechXchange 2026. AI

IBM connects enterprise AI orchestration to production readiness ahead of TechXchange

Enterprise AI orchestration must account for agents working across the data, applications and infrastructure businesses already use. As organizations move beyond experiments, running those systems consistently brings questions of access, oversight and operational control into sharper focus.

Those deployment challenges will help shape the discussion at IBM TechXchange 2026, taking place Oct. 26–29 in Atlanta. IBM Corp. plans to bring practitioners together to share how they are addressing production demands, including sovereignty, according to Bruno Aziza (pictured), group vice president of software, data, AI, automation and security at IBM.

“My belief is that the market is increasingly hybrid,” he said. “Hybrid data, hybrid operations, hybrid automation. The complexity is not in eliminating the hybrid world; the complexity is mastering the hybrid world.”

Aziza spoke with theCUBE Research’s Dave Vellante and John Furrier for IBM’s AI Operating Model interview series, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the technologies, operating practices and governance needed to scale AI across the business ahead of TechXchange. (* Disclosure below.)

Enterprise AI orchestration requires continuous oversight

Giving employees tools to build agents creates both a management challenge and an opportunity to improve their work. Enterprises need visibility into what those employees are deploying and a way to coordinate it across their systems, Aziza explained.

“That’s going to be where governance breaks … the [number of agents] that’s created by your employees will outpace what you can manage,” he said. “So, you really need to build a platform that’s going to allow you to catch up.”

IBM’s AI operating model connects agent orchestration, data integration, hybrid operations and sovereignty. Oversight needs to extend across applications, clouds and data, with alerts that allow organizations to understand and respond when problems arise, according to Aziza.

“[People] tend to think about compliance, stopping innovation, whereas I think what we want to do is have a continuous system that enables people to innovate,” he said. “Your employees are going to innovate. You want to give them the tools to do that.”

Sovereignty reaches beyond data location

Sovereignty presents another test of how thoroughly enterprises understand their operating environments. Choosing where information resides addresses only part of the problem; organizations also need to establish responsibility for the surrounding systems and activities, Aziza noted.

“You have to think about data: Where should it live? You have to think about the technology: Which layers should be run by whom? You have to think about the operations: Who can, in fact, run that? Then you have to think about regulations: How are you staying in touch with that?” he said.

IBM’s Sovereign Core is designed to support control across those dimensions, with more than 200 compliance frameworks mapped to controls, according to the company. Evaluating partners therefore requires examining how their capabilities work together across the enterprise, rather than assuming an individual offering addresses the full scope of sovereignty, Aziza explained.

“True sovereignty really is across data, technology, operations and regulation. If you don’t have a complete answer to that, you might actually go down a silo that will be detrimental to your organization,” he said.

TechXchange puts production experience in the spotlight

IBM’s AI operating model brings together data, agentic workloads, hybrid cloud and infrastructure automation. Making enterprise AI orchestration work across those dimensions requires connecting agents to existing business processes and accommodating both batch and real-time data, Aziza explained. TechXchange will bring those implementation questions into practitioner discussions, with customer examples from organizations including Citigroup Inc., CVS Health Corp. and DoorDash Inc.

“I think culture is not something you put on walls. Culture is what you do,” he said. “One of the things that attracted me to IBM is a very customer-centric culture. What you will see at the conference is [that] the majority of our content is customer content; it’s practitioners exchanging.”

The conference is designed to address the diverse environments customers operate in rather than focus on one vendor’s cloud or application, Aziza explained. As models and tools change, practitioners need opportunities to compare implementation decisions with peers who have faced similar challenges. Those exchanges can help leaders assess their choices beyond the guidance they receive from vendors, he added.

“What [customers] have to turn to is someone they know and trust and say, ‘How did you design that?’” he said. “I think building for a world that changes, building for the dimensions of hybrid, is the only way you can win today.”
