Jaspersoft Offers Data-Driven Development with Foundry Integration

Many companies are jumping aboard the OpenStack bandwagon, quickening speed as of late, including its Cloud Foundry counterpart as well.  The latest vendor to do so is Jaspersoft, which is looking to bring smart reporting and analytics to VMware’s open-source PaaS.

Big data is a catchphrase that is associated with more and more verticals as it gains in popularity, and data-driven application development is one of the many emerging categories out there. The need to achieve a business edge in this area translates into the pressure of offering a higher level of service, and Jaspersoft is looking to come to the rescue.

The company developed an open source version of the Jaspersoft BI Suite for Foundry, which packs the main advantage of supporting both relational databases such as MySQL and big data alternatives such as MongoDB.

“As VMware pairs with leading organizations to build out the Cloud Foundry ecosystem, we are pleased to work with Jaspersoft to integrate its business intelligence platform with Cloud Foundry,” said Jerry Chen, Vice President, Cloud and Application Services, VMware. “AddingJaspersoft’s robust BI to Cloud Foundry enables developers to have a powerful and flexible way to deploy and scale data-driven applications quickly, and glean insights from those applications, without restricting the use of infrastructure.”

The business intelligence software maker is expanding on the cloud front and the big data front at the same time, addressing the two biggest trends in BI today. Back in February Jaspersoft teamed up with Talend to connect Hadoop with its data integration tool, and as a result JasperETL received a big upgrade.

The software introduces a lot of visualization into Hadoop’s framework, in addition to some much needed consolidation that makes data scientists jobs a bit easier when it comes to accessing the information they’re working with.
