Compuverde: The Answer to Big Data Storage Inefficiencies

Companies are generating more data now that at any time before, and the problem of what to do with it is causing more than a few CEOs sleepless nights. It seems that everything businesses do these days is stored electronically – there’s transactions, contracts, analytics, tracking, messaging and more – let’s face it, companies can never have enough storage capacity.

But there’s another problem besides just having sufficient storage space. Many systems are simply inefficient – so much data goes into them that before you know it, they get clogged up as the gateways directing the traffic to those systems become inundated.

It’s for this reason that a new Swedish company named Compuverde interests me. They claim to have designed a new “Gateway” software solution that basically redistributes the way data flows in and out of the system, meaning that data is spread evenly through the various ‘pipes’ , ensuring that everything runs more efficiently.

Compuverde also do much to address the issue of all that unnecessary data – you know, all those backup files and backups of backups, which adds enormously to the costs of running your hungry data system. Object Store, the company’s second product, ties into its basic hardware and improves its fail-safe efficiency, making it act like a much more expensive piece of kit than it actually is.

According to Stefan Bernbo, CEO, Compuverde:

“With Compuverde, the cache is synchronized at all times with the storage nodes, resulting in high performance and reliability. A highly efficient fault recovery process allows for nearly complete redundancy. Our new Gateway and Object Store suite increases performance up to 400 percent in unstructured and structured Big Data storage compared to existing products in the market.”

This is a pretty bold claim from Bernbo, but it seems that he’s prepared to put his money where his mouth is, offering prospective customers the chance to visit the company’s headquarters in Karlskrona and see its enormous, 13-petabyte storage array in action.
