EMC Brings Vatican Apostolic Library into the Digital Age

EMC Corp. is providing 2.8 Pbytes of storage to support the Vatican Apostolic Library’s project to digitize its entire catalogue of historic manuscripts and incunabula. One of the oldest libraries in the world, the Vatican Apostolic Library holds many of the rarest and most valuable documents in existence, including the 42-line Latin Bible of Gutenberg, the first book printed in the West using movable type and dating from between 1451 and 1455. More

Charging stations and battery swap locations are crucial to developing the electronic vehicle market according to more than 40 percent of respondents to PwC’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Survey 2012. Global hybrid and EV market share is forecast to reach 6.3  percent by 2020 according to PwC’s Autofacts. The main challenge in attracting investment in existing and future EV infrastructure is finding the ideal ratio between integrated public charging stations and the number of EVs on the road. More

 

Deloitte Earns Four Awards for Consulting Excellence from the Association of Management Consulting Firms

Deloitte took the top prize in four categories at the 2013 Association of Management Consulting Firms (AMCF) awards ceremony and was a finalist in more categories than any of its competitors. KPMG LLP has announced completion of its acquisition of the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) practice of The Hackett Group. The acquisition was announced on February 20. Financial terms will not be disclosed. More

 

M&A Professionals Expect More Deals in 2013 Finds KPMG Survey

A KPMG survey of merger and acquisition (M&A), private equity, and tax professionals from the technology, financial services, and healthcare sectors, among others, found many expect an increase in deal activity in 2013. Sixty percent of the 400-plus survey respondents expected to do more deals this year than last, with a focus on smaller deals with simpler financing terms. More

 

Google Promises to Include Data on National Security Letters in Transparency Reports

Google has promised to include data on National Security Letters it receives from the U.S. FBI in its Transparency Report. The FBI issues National Security Letters to obtain identifying information about a subscriber from telephone and Internet companies and has the authority to prohibit companies from revealing these requests. Google, however, has found loopholes that allow it to post how many NSLs it received and the number of accounts involved along with general answers to questions users have asked about NSLs. More
