This week Nebula revealed its OpenStack-powered cloud controller, Amplidata announced new storage software, and a couple of web hosts made new partners.
Nebula is a Silicon Valley-based startup that recently launched its flagship product, an OpenStack solution called Nebula One. The $100,000 module consists of a controller and the company’s distribution of the open-source platform, which together form an easily deployable bundle.
The big selling point of the appliance, besides the rapid installation, is that Nebula’s software handles the servers connected to the controller as single machine. This functionality simplifies management complexity and consequently reduces overhead.
Amplidata also had a major product announcement this week. The Belgian storage firm announced that it will be showcasing the latest version of its flagship Distributed Storage System platform, plus a new media gateway, at the NAB 2013 conference next week.
Amplidata’s software is based homegrown technology that delivers reduced physical storage requirements and greater scalability than traditional systems, according to the official description. The company will be attending NAB pitch its offerings to representatives of the digital media industry, a vertical in which demand for new storage solutions that can handle modern workloads is growing at a very rapid pace.
Codero Hosting also had a major update this week: the company revealed that a portion of its services now runs on Dell equipment. The products that Codero uses include the vendor’s PowerEdge servers, but no specific models were listed in the case study.
Connectria is another web host that turned new technologies to augment its services portfolio. Tegile Systems announced that it provided the company with hybrid storage arrays that helped it “improve the storage capacity, efficiency and performance of its Citrix and VDI offerings”. Connectria relied on traditional disk arrays before the purchase.
