Yesterday at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles Microsoft and Sony made important announcements regarding their gaming consoles for the next generation. Joining us now to provide a side-by-side comparison of how these new consoles will stack up against one another is SiliconANGLE Web Producer Mark Zamora (see live feed below or visit youtube.com/siliconangle to watch on-demand).
Earlier this year we got a preview of the Xbox One console however until yesterday, Sony had kept details about their console a secret, only choosing to provide a preliminary look at their controller. It’s the first time consumers are able to compare the two game consoles, though many gamers would certainly like a closer look at Sony’s design.
Beyond the look of the consoles themselves, Microsoft and Sony have another opportunity to differentiate their gaming systems through consumer services, acting as a hub for connected home entertainment. This is a concept Microsoft’s been building for months across several of its devices, and Sony will need to offer some compelling services in order to survive this rapid transition to the cloud.
Joining us now to tell us more about Microsoft’s play with the pending Xbox One launch is Zamora. (See the live broadcast, embed below ~ if you missed today’s topic, check our YouTube channel for archived clips.)
Some of the things we’ll be discussing with Zamora include the points of differentiation between the Xbox One launch and Sony’s new PlayStation launch, the recent criticism both companies have faced for their services approaches, and what we can expect from these two major players in today’s quickly evolving gaming market.
