Nokia Going Out with a Bang, Launching 6 New Devices in October

Nokia will be holding an event on October 22, 2013 in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, where the Finnish company is expected to unveil at least six new devices.

According to sources, Nokia will be launching at least two new Lumias, one of which, the rumored Lumia 1520, will be its first (and last?) entrant in the phablet sector.  Codenamed Bandit, the device is said to feature a 6-inch, 1080p HD display and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon quad-core processor.

Another of the rumored devices expected to make an appearance at the event is the Windows RT tablet dubbed as the Nokia Sirius.  The device is believed to feature a 10.1-inch 5-point touchscreen display with a 1920×1080 resolution, 6MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 10 hours of solid battery life on LTE connectivity in a single charge, microSD port to extend the 32GB internal storage, a Micro HDMI connector, and a Micro USB port.

Though Microsoft announced that it will be acquiring the hardware division of Nokia, the deal is not expected to come to its final stages until next year.  So this event will be all about Nokia, a kind of last hoorah before it lets go if its device business.

Speaking of Microsoft, the software giant is rumored to be working on a Surface mini tablet as well.  It is said to feature either a 7.5” or 8” display, and will be powered by an ARM processor.  Codenamed “Spring 2014 GDR,” the tablet is expected to launch early in 2014 and will be running Window 8.1.  Aside from the Surface mini, Microsoft is also expected to unveil Windows 8.1 Spring 2014 GDR, and Windows Phone Blue or Windows Phone 8.1 early in 2014.
