Nileguide and Localyte: Ask the Locals for a More Intimate Travel and Exploration

Nileguide is the among the growing travel-guide publishing platforms around today, and consequently a very good source of recommendations for your trip.  Nileguide has set several updates towards improving hyper-local information, so you can discover the best way to get around a travel destination.  The optimal way to do this?  Ask people who live around the area, so you, too, get the best deals and to know what places should not be missed.

With that as a guiding principle, Nileguide introduces the new “Ask Locals” feature today.  It merges questions and answers from Localyte.com into it’s website. Nileguide users can now inquire about a place, from the most generic details to the most particular ones. What’s the best restaurant in town? What landmarks are found around this area? What time will you enjoy the sunset as a romantic backdrop? All of these  questions can be answered by the locals of that particular place. “Ask Locals” allow travelers to be more updated and enjoy a more intimate exploration. From John Steinitz, CEO of Nileguide:

“When we acquired Localyte in May, we knew that the global community of Localytes would fit perfectly with our strategy of delivering great recommendations to travelers. We’ve all had those moments while researching or planning a trip when we’ve found ourselves with an important question only a local can answer – now, with ”Ask Locals”, NileGuide users can have those questions answered right away by those who know best.”

The deal is a step forward for Localyte, as the company has been forging several partnerships and relationships with publishers and search tools.  The good news for Localyte is that the hyper-localized trend of search and recommendation verticals doesn’t seem to be dying down.  This is the type of data contextualization that can be applied to several industries, from travel to news.
