Splunk continues to develop huge partnering ecosystem | #splunkconf

The impact of customers on new-product development and new partner strategies continue to impact Splunk, Inc.’s position in the marketplace. Splunk .conf 2015 started its second day with John Furrier and Jeff Frick, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE’s media team, offering up some thoughts and observations about the conference so far and where Splunk is headed.

Splunk listens to customers

Every year, Splunk keeps listening to customers and making new products. “They’re still a product company. That’s a good sign,” said Furrier. “They’ve got a lot of life left in them.”

There’s also a huge partnering ecosystem going on, which is great news for Splunk. It is partnering with big companies EMC and Palto Alto Networks, Inc., and the list goes on and on. “They’re the company that keeps executing,” Furrier noted.

Internet of Things

Splunk’s dedication to the Internet of Things (IoT) is a really big deal moving forward, according to Furrier. “It really revolves around an IT mindset … an IT [operations] perspective,” he stated.

Frick agreed that Splunk is positioned well for the future of IoT applications, saying, “It’ll be a battle to see who owns the data, who owns the applications.” Frick is also interested in Splunk’s relationship with Amazon Web Services, which is a core piece of Splunk’s cloud strategy. “That seems to be a partnership that’s really paying dividends,” he said.
