Exclusive: Zaloni launches Mica to automate “data wrangling” process | #BigDataNYC

Keeping data accessible is the goal of Mica, a new product from enterprise data management solution company Zaloni. Hadoop may make Big Data storage easy, but a growing issue is how to stop your data lake from becoming a stagnant data swamp. Mica addresses this by simplifying access to stored data.

In an exclusive interview with John Furrier and George Gilbert, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, Zaloni CEO and cofounder Ben Sharma announced the launch of Mica during BigDataNYC 2015. Whereas Zaloni’s core platform Bedrock is geared to IT users creating a data lake, Mica’s focus is business users who want to get value out of the data, regardless of if they are business analysts or data scientists.

Wrangling data for the managed data pipeline

“Our mission is to make our customers successful in their Hadoop journey,” Sharma told theCUBE, describing Mica as providing an enterprise-wide data catalog that allows users to quickly have an “end-to-end view of what datasets exist.”
