Nokia Loses Another VP, Meego Still On Track
Nokia was already having a rough time with it’s rebranding efforts, as its new N8 phones met luke warm reviews. And today another VP leaves; Ari Jaaksi resigned from Nokia last week. On the tail of two board members leaving, and Nokia’s radical chief change, Nokia’s finding itself in even steeper struggle.
Jaaksi headed the MeeGo devices, a line of Nokia N900 products that’s receiving good reviews. MeeGo’s gaining potential, between its hardware and software design. An early look at Meego “notes that the hardware is near perfect,’ stating ‘I like it.’ However, when it comes to the software and the MeeGo side of the equation, he notes that it feels like a work in progress and isn’t too polished.”
There aren’t any details on the reasons behind Jaaksi’s departure, though there’s word Meego’s still on track with it’s development. Yet it’s certainly another distraction from Nokia’s strategy. It’s set a few partnerships up, including one with AT&T. However, Nokia’s also in the middle of a legal spat with Apple, in a case that’s been moved to a higher court in Europe.
