Gone to the birds? A chicken is now posting on Twitter to obtain a Guinness World Record
Some people may suggest that Twitter Inc., with its 140 character limit (possibly soon to be lifted) is little more than shallow noise on the internet.
So why not take that further and extend that to the tweeting class… in this case a bird, or a chicken to be more precise.
In what may be one of the better marketing stunts in recent history, Western Australian fast food chain Chicken Treat Ltd. has handed over their Twitter account to a chicken… seriously.
As an added bonus, Betty the chicken is said to be attempting to break a Guinness World Record for the first chicken to ever send a five letter word as a tweet.
We probably should note at this stage that we’re not making this up.
The creative chicken tweeting campaign was created by Perth, Western Australia marketing agency Marketforce, and aims to see the chicken tweet a “proper five letter word in English” by October 30.
So far though the chicken has only gotten to three words, and at least in non-American English, the word may not have been necessarily be a polite one.

Betty (the chicken) is being hosted in “Chicken Tweet HQ”, a designer chicken coop that naturally comes complete with with a computer that allows Betty to Tweet whenever it tickles her fancy.
Birdies
The news that a chicken is trying to break a Guinness World Record comes at a time where Twitter is slashing jobs as its post-initial public offering (IPO) share price tanks.
Most who use Twitter love it, but at the same time the quandary the company has always had is how do you turn that into making a profit, and so far they’ve struggled.
Chickens tweeting are amusing (to some extent), but even then a campaign by Australian Fast Foods Pty. Ltd. (the owner of Chicken Treat) means nothing for Twitter in terms of revenue, even if it means publicity for both.
Given some of the struggles Twitter has had over the last few years, least being the beyond stupidly long Chief Executive Officer hunt, it may be rude to say, but perhaps a chicken could do a better job at the helm of the company.
If you can’t get enough of a chicken tweeting, here’s some more.
