BitcoinBlackFriday.com prepares deals for the Bitcoin community in 2015
For the past three years, BitcoinBlackFriday.com has been the go to for extravaganza deals involving the Bitcoin community and it will be no different this year as merchants and customers have a lot to look forward to. This year when November 27 rolls around people interested in supporting the Bitcoin economy with their hot digital currency will find over 150 confirmed deals at the site.
“For any online merchant, accepting Bitcoin is a requirement,” says Jon Holmquist, the founder of Bitcoin Friday, “it’s free to accept and connects you with a great community of people who want to spend their money.”
Bitcoin Black Friday of 2015 has aligned over 150 merchants including favorites of the Bitcoin community such as Private Internet Access, Inc., a top rated VPN service offering huge deals for Bitcoin Black Friday; Namecheap Inc. , offering even cheaper domains and hosting when you pay with bitcoins; Bees Brothers, selling discounted candies and raw honey; Mixedtees, discounts on t-shirts, hoodies, and other merchandise; Tealet, wholesale merchant offering tea from independent growers; Nestorgames, board games of all shapes and sizes; and REEDS Jewelers, Inc., a large merchant offering discounted jewelry.
And that’s just a taste of what to expect.
This year the total number of merchants being announced is smaller than previous years (having reached an exalted 6,000 deals in 2014) but Holmquist feels that what’s important is quality over quantity.
“This year I focused on what matters most, good deals, easy to browse site, and a more enjoyable experience for Bitcoiners,” Holmquist says about the 2015 lineup of merchants.
To elaborate, Holmquist cites how the heady jump in the market value of bitcoin in 2013 (when it exceeded $1,000) drove a great surge of interest; however, the past two years since have seen the price fall considerably, taking much of the spending craze with it. With bitcoin market value not rising, merchant adoption remaining extremely linear, and consumer spending staying flat, there’s no room for an overwhelming number of deals.
Be sure to visit BitcoinBlackFriday.com before Black Friday, November 27, and sign up to get ahead of this year’s deals.
Competition on the horizon from BitcoinBlackFriday.info
This year a second contender appeared November 10: BitcoinBlackFriday.info. The site uses the same Black Friday moniker and includes an extremely flashy site as well as a pre-deal release newsletter. [Editor’s note: BitcoinBlackFriday.info was revealed to be a scam website. Do not visit or buy from it.]
The new site promises over 2,000 merchants come Friday, November 27, with periodic releases of deals in the week drawing up to the date.
This number of merchants matches the vaunted heights that BitcoinBlackFriday.com reached in 2014 when the site led with over 6,000 merchant bargains. In 2012 the site started with 300 merchants; then 2013 doubled that with 600.
The appearance of a new Bitcoin Black Friday site certainly changes the landscape, but the community has yet to see how this plays out.
