Technology is evolving and data is everywhere. The real issue is how to keep everything secure. With open-source platforms becoming more popular, how does an enterprise protects its digital assets? Blue Talon provides enterprises with the assurance they want by creating the security they need.
Carey James, business development manager of Big Data solutions at EMC, and Stephen Shartzer, VP of worldwide sales at BlueTalon, Inc., talked with John Furrier (@furrier), host of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Hadoop Summit 2016.
BlueTalon is changing the way companies look at data security. It creates a safe environment that “allows users to access data in a governed and secure way,” said James. The company applies a series of policies and governances that function across platforms.
In addition to its own governances, BlueTalon also enforces the existing security policies an enterprise may already have in place. Even after handling so many data streams, BlueTalon also helps to eliminate the number of duplicate datasets an enterprise may have.
With the open-source platform structure in mind, BlueTalon enforces security policies across multiple data entry points. It is even integrated into the shared storage space to ensure there is no “dirt road access,” said James.
The company provides a powerful tool, but it doesn’t hinder an enterprise’s overall performance, Shartzer pointed out. In fact it provides extensive metadata on who has accessed secure information and can even produce full audit trails.
Coupled with a highly interactive community, BlueTalon has the capability to help enterprises feel safer with their data, Shartzer concluded.
