There’s still more news to come from CES: what to expect and how to watch

The Consumer Electronics Show, which showcases the latest innovations and emerging technology from companies across the globe, kicks off this week in Las Vegas to showcase many of the technologies we’ll see hitting the stores in the next year.

Here’s a look at how you can watch various keynotes and presentations, even if you aren’t at the event, as well as what you can expect to see:

When and where

The 50th annual CES officially starts on Jan. 5 and runs until Jan. 8. However, many press conferences and sessions will start as early as Jan. 3. This year’s show will feature new marketplaces, including the biggest AR and VR showcase in history, 850 first-time exhibitors, more than 24 product categories and various keynote presentations.

How to watch CES live from your home

If you are unable to attend CES in Las Vegas you can still get to enjoy a lot of the action in the comfort of your home. For 2017, the Consumer Technology Association has teamed up with Brandlive Inc. to livestream events, featured conferences and keynotes from CES.

Research Summit live stream

The livestream takes place on Thursday, Jan. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST and includes presentations on CES 2017 Trends to Watch; AR, VR and the Future of Content; Global Data Sharing: Quantifying Trade-Offs; and more.

C Space Storytellers

Various companies, including Spotify Ltd., Google Inc., Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc., will present on how brands can leverage emerging technologies to enhance its narrative.

The live stream of the C Space Storytellers takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 4 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. PST; Thursday, Jan. 5 from 10:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. PST; and Friday, Jan. 6 from 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. PST.

Keynote presentations

You will be able to watch four of the keynote addresses that are taking place at CES this week.

  • Jen-Hsun Huang, founder, president and chief executive officer of Nvidia Corp. will present on Jan. 4 at 6:30 p.m. PST. You can also watch the keynote on Nvidia’s website.
  • Arnold W. Donald, president and chief executive officer of Carnival Corp. will present on Jan. 5 at 8:30 a.m. PST.
  • Carlos Ghosn, chairman and chief executive officer of Nissan Motor Company Ltd. will present on Jan. 5 at 4 p.m. PST.
  • Steve Mollenkopf, chief executive officer of Qualcomm Inc. will present on Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. PST.

SuperSessions

During these sessions, emerging companies and senior executives will share experiences and predictions for 2017.

Sessions you will be able to watch on Thursday, Jan. 5 include:

  • Ericsson AB will present at 10:15 a.m. PST on 5G technology.
  • Cnet will discuss the technology that sits at the center of the smart home at 3:30 p.m. PST.

Sessions you will be able to watch on Friday, Jan. 6 include:

  • CTA will present at 10:15 a.m. PST on the steps taken by self-driving car manufacturers to bring cars to market and ensure consumer safety.
  • IBM Inc. will present a panel discussion on the diverse role models within STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) at 11:30 a.m. PST.

What to expect at CES: smartphones, wearables, emerging technology, more

Hundreds of new products and emerging technology will be unveiled at CES this year. A variety of manufacturers, including LG Electronics Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., will unveil new smartphones at CES. In addition, AsusTek Computer Inc. is rumored to unveil its Zenfone AR, the second Google Tango smartphone.

While it is rumored that smartwatches will be lacking from this year’s event, we are expecting to see various other wearables including LG’s wearable speakers, smart glasses and more. Many of Fossil Group Inc.’s brands will also unveil new wearables at the show.

AR and VR will feature heavily at CES this week with various hardware and experiences on offer at the show.

There will be plenty of car technology on offer at CES this week, specifically focused on self-driving cars. Car manufacturers who will present its latest innovations include BMW Group who are set to showcase its HoloActive Touch system;  Continental AG will demonstrate fingerprint and facial recognition; and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will unveil it’s NeuV concept car. Rumors and teasers from the company point to Faraday & Future Inc. (known as Faraday Future) unveiling its production vehicle.
