EMC Breaks More Records with Symmetrix and Other New Products

As we mentioned earlier today, EMC launched a record-breaking 41 new products at their NYC event. In addition, they’ve also introduced some record breaking, or at least impressive, new and updated products. The first one to be highlighted in this article is the latest version of Symmetrix Enginuity which doubles system performance without any hardware upgrade, capable of lowering costs by 40% and is capable to scale 5 million virtual machines.

“New virtual server integration delivers unprecedented scale with up to 5 million virtual machines on a single VMAX. In addition, new VMware API support provides 800% faster management and provisioning and 300% faster replication and mobility.”

Symmetrix Enginuity also features new hardware-based encryption, native 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Federated Live Migration software, 800% faster management and provisioning, 75% less migration time, 300% faster replication and more.

In addition to a new version of Symmetrix Enginuity, EMC also announced a line of record-breaking Data Domain backup systems, reportedly 7 times faster than the competition. These include the EMC Data Domain Global Deduplication Array, the Data Domain DD890 and DD860 single controller systems and the new Data Domain Archiver long term backup retention system. Native systems support for IBM i Operating Environments was also announced, and will in turn enable more efficient disaster recovery and protection.

SiliconANGLE discussed the NYC EMC event as well as the company’s product releases from yesterday including the VNXe line, and the background of the story. For an in-depth look at what EMC’s goals around big data means for users and the industry at large, read our posts from analyst Stu Miniman, found here and here.   SiliconANGLE also attended the event first-hand, and pictures can be found here.
