Multicloud platform management provider CloudHealth Technologies Inc. is extending its product to customers using container orchestration services on Amazon Web Services Inc.’s public cloud.

The company is announcing general availability of its Container Module support for Amazon’s Elastic Container Service, which is used to run Docker containers on the AWS cloud. The idea is to help customers that use Amazon ECS gain more visibility and control over their virtual environments and optimize resource usage.

Amazon ECS is a scalable container orchestration service that supports Docker containers, allowing users to run and scale up containerized applications on Amazon’s cloud. Docker containers are used as a way to package software apps so they can be built once and run on any platform.

CloudHealth provides a service that aggregates, correlates and analyzes data from disparate cloud providers so that customers can better manage budgets, service levels and workloads across multiple clouds. Its support for containers on Amazon is more specific, providing insights into things such as resource usage and allocation on Amazon, allowing businesses greater control over how much they spend while also ensuring they adhere to any regulations they’re required to follow, the company said.

“While containers offer immense operational benefits, organizations struggle to understand consumption patterns and governance needed to make strategic decisions, allocate costs and drive accountability in these dynamic environments,” said John Purcell, vice president of products at CloudHealth.

CloudHealth’s container monitoring service helps companies in three ways. First, it pulls data from AWS ECS to determine costs, trends and forecasts that can help users understand the resources each application is consuming. It then allocates the optimal resources for each cluster running on ECS. Finally, it creates more transparency by serving up analytics that help teams to understand their resource consumption.
