Facebook’s success is phenomenal. It launched back in 2004, and these few short years later, the massive social network boasts 600 million users. We’ve all come to know the social media giant’s dramatic history. If you’ve seen The Social Network, Mark Zuckerberg appears to have purposely kicked out his best friend and then-chief financial officer Eduardo Saverin by dramatically dropping his shares. And the glitch doesn’t end there, Zuckerburg also faced legal battle against the Winklevoss brothers because of intellectual property theft issues. Despite all the drama, Facebook has stood $50 billion-strong and according to Social Media Today, 41.6 percent of the US population has a Facebook account. Woah. That’s almost 50 percent. So where are all these other millions of users coming from?
Now, what if you to put all those 600 million users in a single area –let’s say a city. Sure enough, if Facebook were a city, it’s going to be the most populated city in the world. It will have 900 million destinations in parallel to the number of groups, pages and events Facebook.com has, and will speak 70 different languages. What an amazing sense of diversity (Zuckerberg’s dream, in fact).
Here I found an infographic detailing what is dubbed as Facebook City! According to this infographic, the most densely populated areas of the city will be Facebook for the iPhone and Mobile Midtown. They will be home to 200 million of its residents. Interestingly, the infographic also has spots with quirky labels such as Relationship Rambles and Break-up Borough. And a public place for break-ups? That will certainly bring up concerns about privacy. It seems like Facebook’s never going to shake off privacy issues regardless of whether it’s a virtual world or an actual city.
