The Promise of Cloud Convergence: Appcelerator & Red Hat

What do you get when you two leading companies come together to bring something innovative to the table? Between Appcelerator and Red Hat, the new service empowers developers, making everything else seem like a walk in the park.  Developers will be able to manage and deploy mobile apps to the cloud in a single click, while saving time and money. This is the new product that emerges from the partnership of Appcelerator’s Titanium Studio and Red Hat’s new OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).

Sarangan Rangachari, Senior Director, Cloud Ecosystem at Red Hat, provided some details on what will be Appcelerator’s role in this new OpenShift ecosystem. He said, “Appcelerator is helping to provide Red Hat customers and developers with a seamless way to bring their cloud-connected apps to mobile users. We look forward to working with Appcelerator to meet the needs of our OpenShift users.”

With arrows of growth pointing towards success within the mobile app milieu, the union of Appcelerator and Red Hat is something that developers should look forward to.  Appcelerator is also fresh from its much talked-about partnership with Engine Yard for joint mobile cloud solution. The craze goes on as mobile developers, mostly young and free-spirited people, had a few tricks up their sleeves at the first Mobile TechXpo at GTEC, in Gainesville. This event featured future million-dollar enterprise and amazing mobile app “rockstars.”

Notable enhancements include Opera debuting web developer debugging tool for smartphones and PCs named Dragonfly, Payrollguru app revolutionizing mobile payroll for small businesses and will be made available in Apple’s App Store and to revive the slide of Windows Phone 7 by assisting iOS developers find their way around the system.

With mobile cloud rapidly converging to become the key driver to business initiatives, as indicated with the impressions and numbers in the latest Appcelerator IDC mobile developer survey, providing developers with an enterprise-grade and integrated cloud-connected mobility solution will dictate the tempo of the heightening competition. To add to the challenge is the fragmentation being a threat to the mobile industry.
