Dell Teams with AMX, Fends Rumors of Brocade Buy

Dell’s first ever Storage Forum has kicked off today in Orlando, Florida with a ‘Fluid’ theme focusing on Dell’s Fluid Data architecture via Compellent. The Compllent brand was acquired by Dell in December 2010 and since then, it has taken a considerable interest in assimilating its technology into the Dell Storage fold. This forum is believed to have world class storage technology and is welcoming hundreds of customers as well as partners to learn about it.

Dell will make several announcements in the Storage event including its new solutions built on Fluid Data architecture.  We’ll be covering the event from every angle, with live broadcasts and interviews (check our blog and SiliconAngle.tv regularly for updates). The entire event will be attended by hundreds of customers and partners, and includes rich social media component, follow along on Twitter, Facebook and Dell Tech Center. It will also include week long keynotes, breakout sessions, technical deep dives, storage best practices and networking opportunities. All in all, this is going to be a great and big event for storage industry.

“We’re excited to welcome our customers and channel and technology partners to the inaugural Dell Storage Forum to learn about the exciting development and efforts underway in our rapidly growing storage division,” said Darren Thomas, vice president and general manager, Dell Enterprise Storage.

“We have been working to transform Dell Storage, including many strategic investments in Dell IP over the past 12 months, through product development and multiple acquisitions. We now have the broadest and most complete product offering in our history. As we transform Dell storage and expand our Fluid Data Architecture, this week we will to share with customers our vision and goals and listen to understand how we can help them solve their IT problems.”

Already we’ve heard about AMX having a partnership with Dell. AMX, a leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, today announced it has inked a partnership with leading PC manufacturer Dell.

“Our partnership aligns the best-of-breed IT solutions with the best-of-breed AV solutions and makes them easily accessible for government buyers,” said AMX Vice President of Government Sales John Hanby. “We are very pleased to team with Dell to offer government end-users a one-stop shop for advanced, integrated IT-AV out-of-the-box solutions.”

Finally, one of the event sponsors, Brocade– has also become a piece of immense interest for Dell, as it is on the lookout for networking equipment to beef up their initiative on assembling a full IT stack. Dell is hunting for their match in the market; to that end, Brocade Communications Systems looks very attractive to them.

Dell Storage Forum 2011 will also be attended by us, where we’ll be covering the event live from every angle (see broadcasts and interviews at SiliconAngle.tv).Check back at the SiliconAngle blog, and tune into SiliconAngle.tv for live broadcasts, interviews and regular news updates from Dell Storage Forum.
