Hybrid cloud adoption equips enterprises with distinctive edge, says Infosys

Management professionals at the strategic and executive levels are on a seemingly endless search for additional revenue generators. These areas have been proven, time and again, as effective ways to push the boundaries of profits, market permeation and business expansion.

Hybrid cloud has been identified as one of those areas — a future-forward approach to enterprise data management and analysis. It’s also the star of this year’s HPE Discover event.

“If you look around, hybrid cloud has been the new normal,” said Saju Sankarankutty (pictured right), chief technology officer, Cloud Advisory, and vice president of hybrid cloud, engineering, platforms and automation at Infosys Ltd. “Private cloud is becoming an essential component for hosting applications. It’s more about applications that have low-latency requirements, it has regulatory requirements or it has a static demand of infrastructure.”

Sankarakutty and Umashankar Lakshmipathy (pictured left), senior vice president and regional head of EMEA at Infosys, spoke with Lisa Martin, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the HPE Discover event. They discussed current trends around hybrid cloud, its state of affairs and enterprise adoption metrics. (* Disclosure below.)

Big boon for the enterprise

A recent survey conducted by Infosys on enterprises based in the U.S and Central America brought up some interesting results:

“When we looked at what our clients and enterprises were able to recover and get out of the whole cloud adoption move, we arrived at a number of $414B of profits that the enterprises can make by using this cloud adoption. That’s what we saw in this survey that we did with our clients,” Lakshmipathy explained.

More than $400 billion might not seem like much at a larger scale. However, when you consider that the survey only covered a small swathe of companies in one region of the world, it’s clear that the potential benefits companies stand to reap by implementing hybrid cloud infrastructures are immense, according to the duo.
