HPE GreenLake sees 46% YoY growth on the back of its “pay-as-you-use” model
There is shifting marketplace momentum in favor of bringing a part of the cloud experience to organizations’ on-premises operations — in essence hybrid solutions.
Businesses are looking to their technology partners for environments where their cloud data resources are protected, cost-efficient and can generate the degree of insights required.
“We have a scenario where we’re bringing the cloud experience to the customer on their premises,” said Keith White (pictured), senior vice president and general manager of HPE GreenLake at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. “They get to have it automated self-serve, easy to consume. They pay for what they use. They can have it in their data center, they can have it at the edge, they can have it at the silo, and we can manage it all for them.
As a result, HPE’s clients are getting a true cloud experience and the company is seeing this manifest in a variety of different customer scenarios, added White, who spoke with Dave Vellante, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the HPE GreenLake Announcement event. They discussed the strides being taken by GreenLake to meet customers at their point of need, as well as the results yielded. (* Disclosure below.)
New products and newer horizons
During the event, HPE took the wraps off a few improvements to its GreenLake platform centered around providing increased data processing capabilities within cloud environments. For analytics, the GreenLake platform now has in-built software that can glean increased levels of real-time insights from customer data, according to White.
“You also have to protect that data, and so if it’s going to be on-prem, I want to know that it’s protected and secured. So how do I back it up? How do I have a disaster recovery plan? How do I watch out for ransomware attacks as well? So we’re providing some capabilities there,” White added.
GreenLake is pivoting toward becoming a cloud service and software company, according to White. The momentum toward that shift is being driven by its performance so far, with over 1,200 global customers and $5 billion in asset value.
