Pegasystems looks to crush business complexity with real-time decisioning and intelligent automation

Pegasystems Inc. is leaning on both its software development chops — via a scalable architecture and low-code platform — and flourishing Amazon Web Services Inc. partnership to help enterprises make better decisions, including its public sector clients.

“Pega is a $1 billion company; it’s a software company, and we call it ‘the software that builds itself’ because we are definitely here to crash customer complexity,” said Carola Cazenave (pictured), vice president of global business partner ecosystems at Pegasystems Inc. “So we do it by doing three things: one-to-one customer engagement, customer service and also intelligent automation.”

Cazenave spoke with John Furrier, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the AWS Summit Washington, DC event. They discussed Pegasystems, its AWS underpinnings and how the partnership is driving public sector digital transformation. (* Disclosure below.)

Making services less complex

Pegasystems isn’t new to creating enjoyable user experiences for its customers, according to Cazenave. But with the company’s new public sector patronage, it has employed even more innovative ways to cut resource wastage, save time and make services less complex for end users.

One government use case Cazenave pointed to was the New Jersey Courts, which worked with Pegasystems to connect and automate the criminal justice process — from law enforcement to the courtroom. The Courts now leverage Pegasystems’ real-time artificial intelligence technology to help judges make immediate risk assessments. The process was reduced from an average of three hours to just 20 minutes, according to Cazenave.

And that was just by making four legacy systems into one, thus creating a much faster experience,” she said.

The public domain work at Pegasystems usually involves managing a lot of legacy systems, and the company has devised a creative solution. “What we do is whatever legacy systems a customer has, we manage to ensure that we connect them all and have a front line so that you can access  information in real time.”

Layered under all of the company’s solutions is AWS, which provides the necessary required levels of security and scalability, Cazenave concluded.
