What to expect at the ‘Why Ransomware Isn’t Your Only Problem’ event: Join theCUBE Oct. 13

There is real pressure to secure data across a business’ distributed cloud infrastructures.

With a new norm for remote workforces, organizations must cope with the sudden vaporization of the traditional security perimeter and rising ransomware costs. Fifty percent of those affected by ransomware also lost data, according to a recent study by the International Data Corp., based on a survey of over 500 companies. This fast-evolving threat landscape is spawning targeted solutions with aims to modernize data protection.

“Druva is solving some really hard problems with a modern data protection stack,” said Dave Vellante, co-founder of theCUBE and chief research officer at Wikibon. “Business resilience has become a front-and-center issue in the post-isolation economy. Druva has shown it is able to appeal to forward-thinking practitioners that are willing to lean into cloud-first data protection and transform their operational model.”

On Oct. 13, theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, will broadcast a special “Why Ransomware Isn’t Your Only Problem” livestream analysis, delivering firsthand insights on data resiliency, breach recovery and use cases with Druva Inc. (* Disclosure below.)

Modernizing data resiliency

Data resilience is intricately linked to business resilience and the actualization of key business outcomes. With data democratization came a sprawling threat landscape, creating complexities across disparate data centers. Modern data resiliency addresses the asynchrony of data protection tools, policies and processes.

Unique problems bear unique solutions. Druva’s niche approach to data protection as a service works by consolidating and simplifying operations to support visibility for better recovery strategies. Disaster recovery and cyber recovery are not equivalent, and so require different planning methods gaining appeal in cloud-based environments.

Druva enables cyber, data and operational resilience for every organization with the Data Resiliency Cloud, with claims to be the industry’s first and only at-scale SaaS solution. With this, Druva’s “customers can radically simplify data protection, streamline data governance, and gain data visibility and insights as they accelerate cloud adoption,” according to Vellante.

Sustaining data resilience

It’s not enough for companies today to be secure. Modern enterprises must also strive to sustain resilience.

“Ransomware protection alone isn’t enough to satisfy the pressures, challenges and speed of modern businesses,” explained Jaspreet Singh, founder and chief executive of Druva. “Protecting data from outside attackers should be table stakes at this point, but most vendors are simply unable to make stronger commitments given the limitations of their business models.”

Druva argues that although cyberattacks and ransomware continue to pose a significant threat, organizations face mounting challenges beyond these external threats, including insider threats and undertrained staff, while the rising adoption of SaaS business tools increases the potential risk and impact of unplanned outages.

The company’s most recent announcement unveiled a data resiliency guarantee providing up to $10 million in coverage and guarantees the security, immutability and availability of customers’ data.

The guarantee, backed by the Druva Data Resiliency Cloud, is said to be made possible by Druva’s leading software-as-a-service data protection solution and service-level agreements. With the guarantee, Data Resiliency Cloud customers gain additional confidence that they are protected against a wide variety of data loss and downtime events across cyber, human, application, operation and environmental risk factors.

If Druva fails to live up to its promises, customers can claim up to $10 million in compensation. The actual amount of compensation on offer varies based on how much the customer spends with Druva, but Druva says the new guarantee has been designed so that the vast majority of customers will be eligible, provided they turn on the features Druva needs them to be using to keep the data protected.
