What to expect during the ‘AWS Industry Technology Partners Showcase’: Join theCUBE May 4
Broadcasters and media production companies have bought into cloud-native models, carried along by a tidal wave of digital content that is now available through streaming platforms that have come to dominate the internet.
The Sandvine Corp.’s “Global Internet Phenomena” 2023 report found that video usage now accounts for 65% of all internet volume. Data points such as these highlight the important influence of cloud-native in the media landscape. Media companies are increasingly turning to cloud-based infrastructure to minimize capital expense investment and reap the benefits of consumption-based economics in an effort to meet the expectations of content-hungry users.
A growing ecosystem of companies is driving this trend, and theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, in partnership with Amazon Web Services Inc., will provide a glimpse into the digital media future during the AWS Industry Technology Partners Showcase: “Optimize Your Media Supply Chain and Increase Velocity With AWS” event on May 4 at 10 a.m. PT. Executives from emerging technology companies will discuss key trends in digital media production and how the cloud is transforming the delivery of video content. (* Disclosure below.)
Cloud-native supply chains
As online media content has mushroomed, content providers have been seeking ways to manage and deliver video assets to multiple endpoints from a central location. Each of the companies featured in the event provide services for enabling media creation and production direct from the cloud.
Three of the companies participating in theCUBE Showcase on May 4 — SDVI Corp., Nomad Technologies LLC and Ateliere Creative Technologies Inc. — provide cloud-native supply chain and asset management platforms designed to facilitate fast and effective video content delivery. The Ateliere Connect cloud-native supply chain orchestration platform lets clients customize workflows and automate the packaging and delivery of media assets through the AWS network. Nomad leverages the capabilities of AWS AI/ML to discover and distribute media content libraries.
The SDVI Rally cloud-native media supply chain platform was used by A+E Networks to move a large volume of library assets to Discovery+ in a short period of time. This included unscripted library content that was needed for deployment on Discovery’s streaming platform, and it highlighted how emerging companies are building a support ecosystem for major content providers.
“As a SaaS platform, we release new software updates to the Rally platform every two weeks, meaning that our customers have access to a continuous stream of new features,” said Geoff Stedman, SDVI’s chief marketing officer and a participant in theCUBE’s upcoming Showcase, during a recent interview. “Many of our recent developments on the Rally platform address the unique demands of studio content delivery, as major studios look to benefit from the agility and efficiency of Rally-optimized supply chains to transform content for 4K, high dynamic range and interoperable master format packaging.”
Advanced video production
The move by content producers to cloud-native is also reshaping the landscape in video production technologies. Other companies participating in the May 4 event include Telestream Inc. and Sony Electronics Inc., providers of advanced video processing solutions for content owners.
In recent weeks, Sony has released integrations and enhanced functionality for its Ci Media Cloud, which allows users to capture, review and run streamlined post-production workflows without moving or copying content. Sony has also added new capabilities to its Networked Live ecosystem of products and services designed to transform live broadcast production.
In April, Telestream unveiled a Content Manager system to leverage cloud and on-premises storage for post-production, along with a software-only version of its Lightspeed Live Capture solution for cloud-native video quality monitoring.
“Digital transformation is driving exciting innovation across media and entertainment workflows, and we want to ensure our customers can take full advantage,” said Jon Wilson, president and COO of Telestream, in a release announcing the enhancements. “We’re focusing the vast capabilities of our company on delivering software-centric and cloud-native solutions to give content owners, broadcasters and video service providers the flexibility and tools they need to automate, optimize and scale their operations.”
Be sure to tune in May 4 as theCUBE interviews leaders from these emerging companies and highlights the latest innovations in the media content delivery world.
