Cloud security company Lacework Inc. today announced an expansion of its partnership with Amazon Web Services Inc. to offer customers improved anomaly detection through composite alerts linked with Amazon GuardDuty findings.

Amazon GuardDuty is a threat detection service offered by AWS that continuously monitors for malicious or unauthorized activity within an AWS environment. The service employs machine learning, anomaly detection and integrated threat intelligence to identify and prioritize potential threats.

Lacework’s announcement today sees integration with AWS Security Hub to enhance existing security alerts and introduce new composite warnings that build on Amazon GuardDuty anomaly detection findings. Amazon GuardDuty findings with Lacework’s composite alerts are said to provide a richer investigative context that helps security professionals prioritize, reducing investigation times and delivering a heightened level of cloud security for joint customers.

Through the integration, customers can also send enriched Lacework composite alerts back into Amazon Security Lake to have even greater access to security events.

“Through this extension of our relationship with AWS, we’re able to provide our shared customers with a comprehensive view of their cloud security attack surface and help them identify and respond to threats more quickly and effectively,” Brian Lanigan, vice president of worldwide channels and alliances at Lacework, said in a statement.

Lacework also announced today that it has worked with the cloud giant to complete an AWS-built-in, co-build solution that automatically installs, configures and integrates with native AWS Cloud Foundational Services across multiple domains such as identity, security and operations.

Lacework, a member of the AWS Partner Network, has constructed its software solution with integral AWS services such as Amazon GuardDuty, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Security Hub and AWS Organizations. The incorporation aims to reduce risk, lessen operational costs and ensure stable observability in cloud environments.

By using an AWS-validated Modular Code Repository designed for enhancing partner solutions, Lacework says it can assist customers in achieving their objectives related to scaling, simplicity and cost-effectiveness. The integrated platform is available to all customers today.

In related news, AWS announced new GuardDuty expansions at its annual re:Inforce conference in Anaheim, California, earlier today. GuardDuty has been expanded with new features that can scan Aurora databases, EKS Runtime containers and Lambda-based threats.
