Israeli low-code/no-code and robotic process automation startup Nokod Security Ltd. announced today that it has raised $8 million in seed funding to support research and expand into the U.S. market.
Founded earlier this year, Nokod offers a platform that enables organizations to secure their low-code/no-code custom applications and RPA by scanning them for security and compliance issues and applying customized auto-remediation policies.
The platform seeks to address issues with low-code/no-code and RPA on platforms such as Microsoft PowerApps, ServiceNow Inc. and UiPath Inc. that the application security stack does not cover. Nokod argues that while these platforms provide businesses with fast application development with minimal complex coding, the applications and automation create a new attack surface and introduce the risk of compliance violations.
Nokod was designed to empower businesses with a platform to manage cybersecurity and compliance risks stemming from their low-code/no-code custom applications and RPA by streamlining security in the application lifecycle. The platform gives security teams a comprehensive view of the application inventory, identifies security issues and vulnerabilities and offers the organization customized auto-remediation, accelerating their digital transformation.
“As companies increasingly turn to low-code/no-code and RPA platforms, coupled with the rise of Generative AI tools, the adoption of low-code/no-code tools is set to skyrocket,” Yair Finzi, co-founder and chief executive officer of Nokod Security, said in a statement. “This trend can take us back to the days when everyone coded without proper security measures, leaving sensitive business and personal data vulnerable to unauthorized access. Our product ensures 100% secure citizen development within enterprises.”
Finzi is a self-described “serial entrepreneur” and was the co-founder of fraud and bot detection and mitigation provider SecuredTouch Ltd., which was acquired by Ping Identity Holding Corp. in 2021. Finzi is also a former member of an Israeli Army elite cybersecurity unit.
The seed funding was raised from Acrew Capita Management L.P., Meron Capital Inc. and Flint Capital Parters LP. “Low-code/no-code apps are being widely deployed, but the shared security model, as in other domains, only helps customers up to a certain point and then they are on their own,” noted Mark Kraynak, founding partner at Acrew Capital. “This is a huge looming security problem.”
