Semperis adds support for Okta to its security assessment tool

Enterprise identity protection and cyber resilience startup Semperis Ltd. today announced the introduction of Okta Inc. security vulnerability scanning in its security assessment tool Purple Knight.

The added support for Okta is the first time Semperis has expanded support outside of the Microsoft Corp. identity platforms of Active Directory and Entra ID.

The new support for Okta in Purple Knight came about as a result of requests from Semperis partners and community members who use Okta in conjunction with Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID for identity purposes. With the new support, Purple Knight now includes 10 Okta security indicators, with plans to increase that number over time.

Companies offering support for Okta isn’t new, but Semperis argues that its integration is different given Purple Knight’s ability to integrate Okta security results with Active Directory and Entra ID results in a hybrid identity environment.

“We increasingly heard that some organizations are using Okta in conjunction with the Microsoft identity platform,” said Ran Harel, associate vice president of security products at Semperis. “By adding security indicators for Okta to the Purple Knight, we’re expanding its ability to improve security posture across hybrid identity environments, which  will continue to expand as organizations explore the best combination of technologies for their environments.”

Arecent report from Semperis found that organizations that initially scored poorly in a Purple Knight security test reported an average of 40% improvement in their security posture score when applying remediation guidance from Purple Knight, with some organizations reporting improvements of up to 64%. The support for Okta is said to expand Purple Knight’s value to companies with hybrid identity environments.

Semperis is a venture capital-backed startup that last raised $200 million in funding in May 2022. Investors in the company include Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. LP, Ten Eleven Ventures LLC, Paladin Capital Group LLC, Atrium Health Strategic Fund LLC and Tech Pioneers Fund LP.
