Rethinking digital asset management by simplifying file organization and retrieval
In today’s digital landscape, businesses often find themselves wrestling with various digital assets scattered across multiple platforms and formats. The time spent tracking, managing and sharing these assets can be a productivity bottleneck.
Stockpress Inc., which was created to solve those pain points, seeks to help digital teams get work done. The founding Stockpress team operated a thriving digital development agency for over a decade. During that time, they were consistently vexed by the need to juggle multiple platforms in order to collaborate on files with freelancers and clients.
“We actually decided to build Stockpress for ourselves as a solution to an issue we were dealing with, which we did,” said Jessica Storry (pictured, left), chief executive officer of Stockpress. “[We’re] trying to solve that problem that everybody has … how they can keep all their files and all their digital assets in one place and make sure everyone can access them when they need it in an easy-to-use way.”
Storry and Ian Parkes (right), chief revenue officer of Stockpresss, spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Dave Vellante, during a CUBE Conversation from SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio in Boston. They discussed Stockpress and its novel approach to streamline workflows and foster collaboration.
Unique features and use cases
When Stockpress was just a fledgling idea within the team’s digital agency, team members faced the issue of licensing costs, across several tools, that accrued with the addition of new clients and users. Thus, the platform’s unlimited user model stands out in the market, allowing organizations to onboard everyone involved without incurring additional costs, according to Storry.
“We encourage you to put everybody that you’re working with into the platform so that everybody can work collaboratively together,” he said. “We think that’s something missing from all the tools that we [used] at the time. And the same thing goes for the idea of categorizing and tagging your files.”
Stockpress’ appeal lies in its unique features and versatile use cases. Unlike traditional file management systems, it integrates digital asset management capabilities, such as categorization, tagging, artificial intelligence tagging and facial recognition. The combination simplifies the organization and retrieval of assets. This litany of capabilities has been carefully tailor-matched to subscription tiers customers can choose from to suit their needs, Parkes added.
“As we built the platform out, we’ve built in a ton more features,” he said. “And what we’ve really started looking into is what types of customers exist in the packages that we have. Because of those customer types, what features do they need to get from the platform to be able to get the most value out of it? We’ve recently introduced pricing that has access to different features … focused on delivering value.”
Data sprawl is a crucial problem for today’s data teams. Stockpress can identify and merge duplicate files automatically, preventing storage bloat and simplifying asset management.
“If I were to import all my files from Box, for example, Stockpress gives every file a fingerprint and automatically identifies if you have duplicates across the system and can merge them together for you,” Storry said. “What we find is people think they need a lot more storage than they actually do, because they have so many duplicate files because of that folder mentality.”
