New Mitiga Investigation Workbench helps address SEC cybersecurity incident reporting requirement

Cloud incident response company Mitiga Security Inc. today released a new cybersecurity solution that provides instant clarity on all multicloud and software-as-a-service activities through a single pane of glass.

Called Investigation Workbench, the solution has been designed to address the need for enterprises to report material cybersecurity incidents within four days as now required by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. With the new solution, security operations center terms can see events across vast cloud and SaaS estates to understand the extent of the activities and impact without possessing deep cloud and SaaS investigation expertise.

Mitiga’s Investigation Workbench can determine how material a breach is in a short span, empowering internal incident response and SOC teams in a new way. Users can quickly decide which cloud and SaaS incidents they can effectively manage in-house and which more significant incidents demand both disclosure and additional support and expertise to contain.

The new service can be used in any situation where there is a need to investigate cloud or SaaS activities, including security alerts, suspected phishing incidents, or unusual user behavior, to understand precisely what happened. In one example, if a user has been phished, Investigation Workbench can be used to see what actions the user took after the phishing incident.

Investigation Workbench provides an automated timeline of activities, allowing security teams to assess whether the user downloaded files, read certain emails, or performed other actions that could indicate a security breach.

“The majority of the industry is playing catch-up, only now understanding that incident response in the cloud and SaaS requires new capabilities to deliver faster response times, reduced investigation overhead and continuous breach detection,” co-founder and Chief Executive Tal Mozes said.” Investigation Workbench builds off our important industry research, helping companies combat today’s sophisticated threats… removing complexity for internal IR and SOC teams [and] enabling them to quickly understand an incident and take immediate action to minimize downtime.”

A venture capital-funded startup, Mitiga was in the news in October when it added Cisco Investments, the investment arm of Cisco Systems Inc., as an investor. The company had previously raised $45 million in funding from investors, including ClearSky Security Inc., Samsung Next Corp., Blackstone Inc., Atlantic Bridge Ventures LLC and DNX Ventures LLC.
