New partnership between Securiti and Lacework targets improved cloud data protection

Unified data control startup Securiti Inc. and cloud security company Lacework Inc. today announced a new strategic partnership that allows customers to safeguard their sensitive data using Lacework’s Cloud Native Application Protection Platform and Securiti’s Data Command Center.

Securiti brings to the partnership contextual data intelligence and unified controls across the hybrid multicloud. Its Data Command Center delivering the functions defined in data security posture management and data security platform categories and visibility for overall data security in software as a service, infrastructure as a service, data lakes, warehouses and on-premised data centers.

Lacework offers security coverage from code security to runtime applications that allow enterprises to correlate risk and threat data to gain insights and drive better security outcomes.

By contextualizing Lacework security findings based on the data sensitivity determined by the Securiti Data Command Center, the companies say, enterprises gain more comprehensive risk prioritization. The combination of Securiti’s intelligent data classification and Lacework’s cloud attack path analysis is claimed to unlock the ability to understand the patterns and associated risks between modern apps and data stores.

The combination of the Data Command Center and Lacework platform provides benefits for security analysts, including the ability to identify highest-priority risks, with Lacebook incorporating Securiti’s data sensitivity tags into risk models. Doing so allows analysts to prioritize risks and attack paths involving sensitive data repositories.

The partnership also focuses on high-impact threats. Lacework incorporates data sensitivity insights into threat analysis models, enabling security operations center teams to prioritize threats that can reach sensitive data repositories.

Other benefits included increased incident investigation confidence and improved prioritization and remediation. Users can prioritize cloud security posture management policy violations, vulnerabilities and alerts based on their impact on sensitive data. Compliance with regulations such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation is also streamlined, with users able to gain insights into data classification, location and security controls in one place.

“By enabling security teams to see the relationships between applications and services and the sensitive data they directly access, we can provide a much more informed view of risk,” said Lacework Chief Executive Jay Parikh. “Adding the freshness and accuracy of Securiti’s best-of-breed DSPM capabilities to the Lacework platform allows for intelligent visibility that helps teams understand the complex linkage between data and applications.”
