New Oleria service aims to tackle modern identity challenges in cybersecurity

Adaptive and autonomous security access solutions startup Oleria Corp. today announced the general availability of Oleria Adaptive Security, a service that offers fine-grained visibility into access and access usage at an individual resource level.

Designed to allow chief information security officers and their teams to answer questions such as who has access to what, how they got it and what they are doing with it, the new service is pitched as transforming and modernizing access management.

Oleria argues that identity security has become the “new cybersecurity battlefront,” with CISOs and their teams increasingly challenged by the lack of access visibility and control due to the limitations of legacy identity and access management systems. Added into the mix is the proliferation of software-as-a-service applications and artificial intelligence adding further complexity to the identity landscape.

Adaptive Security addresses this challenge by filling in critical gaps for security teams by bringing together organization-wide access into an access graph powered by Oleria’s Trustfusion Platform. The solution allows organizations to ensure that users have the right access and the right time only when they need it, with the net result claimed to be that organizations can reduce risk, ensure compliance and reduce the cost of managing access.

“Oleria was founded by security operators for operators to propel identity security forward, eliminating the restrictive limitations of legacy identity security technology and processes,” said Jim Alkove, chief executive officer of Oleria and former chief trust officer at Salesforce Inc. “We’ve built the first adaptive identity security product giving our customers full clarity and control of their access, freeing their organizations from the restrictions and risks of rigid legacy security operations, and allowing them to collaborate and innovate at the pace of business.”

Other features of the service include real-time, continuous risk monitoring that offers actionable insights and remediation recommendations to help reduce the attack surface and boost the overall security posture. The service also helps to quickly identify and address a broader range of access and configuration risks, including anomalous login attempts and unauthorized external sharing, while facilitating the removal of outdated accounts and permissions to maintain compliance and minimize vulnerabilities.

Oleria is a venture capital-backed startup, having raised $40 million in funding, including a round of $33 million in January. Investors include Evolution Equity Partners LLC, Salesforce Ventures Inc., Tapestry Ventures LLC and Zscaler Inc.
