Software supply chain management startup Lineaje announced today that it has raised $20 million in new funding to advance its artificial intelligence capabilities, deliver secure open-source software, reduce enterprise software maintenance costs and expand its global business.

Founded in 2021, Lineaje offers continuous software supply chain security management to companies that build or use software. The company’s service determines all software components and exposes each component’s multilevel dependency chain with fingerprinting technology that can attest to the authenticity of the entire supply chain, eliminating compromises.

Recent research from Lineaje finds that there’s an average of 250 “pre-tampered components” in every application, creating points of exposure. High-profile attacks, such as those on SolarWinds Corp., demonstrate the devastating consequences of supply chain vulnerabilities and the need to identify vulnerabilities before they are exploited.

Key Lineaje offerings include SBOM360, a software bill of materials manager, as well as SBOM360 Hub, an SBOM repository, and Open Source Manager, a solution that brings transparency to open-source components. The company also has partnerships with significant distributors, including Persistent Systems Ltd. and KPMG International Ltd. in India.

Prosperity7 Ventures, Neotribe Ventures and Hitachi Ltd. led the Series A funding round, with Tenable Ventures Inc., Carahsoft Technology Corp., Wipro Ventures, SecureOctane, Alumni Ventures Group and executives at ZScaler Inc., CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. and Trellix Inc. also participating in the round.

“This funding marks a pivotal moment for Lineaje as we spearhead the global transformation in software supply chain security and management,” said Chief Executive Javed Hasan. He added that a key focus for the funding will be to advance Lineaje AI capabilities “to deliver known, secure open-source software to organizations, dramatically reducing enterprise software maintenance investments.”

Lineaje was previously in the news in August 2023 when it introduced “BomBots,” AI-based automation bots designed to address critical software maintenance and security concerns. BomBots leverage Linaje AI to create “intelligent recommendations” that enable developers and security analysts to make better decisions that result in more secure and efficient software.
