Samsung Launches ChatON, LTE Phones and New Galaxy Tab 7.7
Though Samsung is continuously getting battered by Apple, ongoing lawsuits are not stopping the Korean company to deliver new products and services.
In another attempt to attract more customers, Samsung intends to launch a messaging service much like the BBM of RIM’s BlackBerry, and the upcoming iMessage from Apple. The service will be known as ChatON, and will be available starting October. The free messaging service will come preinstalled in Samsung’s feature phones as well as smartphones running on its own Bada operating system and Google’s Android software. There’s also support for RIM and Apple devices.
With free messaging services sprouting like mushrooms after the rain, you’d have to ask what does ChatOn offer that others don’t have? As we all know, BBM can only be used by BlackBerry users to each other, and with Apple’s track record of exclusivity, we don’t have to guess that iMessage will function the same way as BBM. While ChatOn is breaking the barriers of exclusivity across mobile operating systems, its features are pretty inclusive too. Users can send text, images, and hand-written notes, as well as chat in groups and share video clips.
Samsung has also confirmed that they will launch the new Galaxy SII LTE during the IFA. Galaxy SII LTE is the world’s first LTE/WCDMA/GSM multi-mode phone that comes with a big 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 8MP camera with flash and a 1850mAh battery. The company might also launch their LTE version of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and the rumored Galaxy Tab 7.7 at the upcoming IFA. The LTE version of the Galaxy Tab 8.9 has the same features as the Wi-Fi version: Android Honeycomb 3.2, a dual-core processor, a 3-megapixel front-facing and 2-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 1080p HD video playback.
Obstacles are part of progress, and if you can’t find a way to get through these, then you might not be ready to take on the big dogs. And Samsung is proving to everyone that they are one to watch out for as they keep coming back to fight.
