Kubernetes operations and cost management startup CAST AI Group Inc. today announced the launch of its new Kubernetes Security Posture Management solution that it claims can block 20 times more runtime threats than legacy tools.
The company’s new KSPM solution has been designed to provide real-time scanning of Kubernetes clusters for misconfigurations, image vulnerabilities and compliance issues. The solution also detects runtime anomalies and offers remediation solutions, including fully automated operating system patching.
CAST AI argues that current security tools often focus on alert prioritization while leaving security engineers to manually assess and address threats — a process that it says is time-consuming and can allow risks to escalate. CAST AI’s KSPM bridges that gap by automating threat remediation, it claims, hence enhancing an organization’s security posture while increasing the effectiveness of security teams.
Features of the new KSPM solution include its being lightweight and easy to install out-of-the-box, with built-in integrations with existing permission models, according to the company. Customers can deploy it without the need for additional procurement cycles or security reviews.
The development of CAST AI’s KSPM solution was influenced by the company’s partnership with some of the world’s largest Kubernetes users, including Hugging Face Inc., PlayPlay SAS and OpenX Technologies Inc.
“We required a robust security posture for our Kubernetes applications, particularly in detecting runtime threats. While some agentless tools were effective in identifying vulnerabilities, they fell short in detecting runtime threats,” said Adrien Carreira, head of infrastructure at machine learning applications tool provider Hugging Face, which has been using the product for several months.
CAST AI is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised $73 million over six rounds, including a round of $35 million in November 2023. Investors in the company include Vintage Investment Partners, Creandum AB and Uncorrelated Ventures.
