Prime Security launches with AI-powered design stage security platform and $6M in funding

Israeli enterprise security startup Prime Security today launched and announced that it has raised $6 million in funding to accelerate research and development and expand its sales and engineering teams across its Tel Aviv and New York offices.

Founded in 2023 as Primesec Inc., Prime Security offers organizations tools to implement security at the design phase to ensure early risk detection and compliance management. The company’s artificial intelligence-powered platform proactively identifies vulnerabilities and, in doing so, offers a scalable solution for security teams to collaborate more effectively with engineering.

The company’s security guardrails for the design stage of the software development lifecycle address the need for security to be incorporated at all stages of product development, especially during the design stage. With additional regulations and frameworks driving a shift towards “secure by design” principles, Prime Security helps organizations address risks early and meet emerging regulator demands.

The platform integrates with tools such as Jira and Confluence to identify and contextualize security risks early in the design phase. The company’s AI-powered risk engine automates security assessments to allow companies to see immediate value upon deployment, with ongoing improvement as more tools are integrated.

The platform addresses critical design-stage risks, such as authorization logic errors, unencrypted data and improper access controls. It also identifies violations such as unrestricted network access and incomplete security policies, providing clear guidance for remediation.

Through its focus on design-stage security, Prime ultimately helps teams proactively address risks and ensure compliance with audit and regulatory standards.

“Our customers, from midmarket to enterprise, recognize the need for a new design-stage security approach that reduces product cyber risk and accelerates business,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Michael Nov. “Security teams can now gain early and full visibility into development risks, scaling assessments tenfold without adding staff while maintaining compliance.”

Foundation Capital led the seed round, with Flybridge Capital Partners LP and prominent angel investors also participating. The angel investors included Sam Gutmann, co-founder and CEO of Own Company Inc.; Adrian Kunzle, chief technology officer of Own Company; Assaf Keren, chief security officer at Qualtrics International Inc.; Dimitri Sirota, co-founder and CEO of BigID Inc.; Michael Callahan, board member of Datadog Inc.; and Omer Schneider, co-founder and CEO of CyberX.
