Fortinet expands generative AI in cybersecurity portfolio with new FortiAI integrations

Cybersecurity firm Fortinet Inc. today announced the expansion of generative artificial intelligence capabilities across its product portfolio with the launch of two new integrations with FortiAI, its AI-powered security assistant.

The new integrations start with FortiAI for FortiNDR Cloud, an integration designed to help threat hunters quickly view detections and observations that align with their specific queries. The tool allows security analysts to easily assess FortiNDR Cloud’s coverage of emerging threats, attacker tactics and specific vulnerabilities, streamlining their search process and improving their performance in managing threats.

The second new integration, FortiAI for Lacework FortiCNAPP, is tailored to help security operation center teams interpret alerts with greater speed and accuracy. The tool provides guidance on understanding alert risks, including potential system compromise scenarios and provides clear, step-by-step instructions for investigating and responding to issues.

Using natural language queries, the company says, security operations center teams can quickly clarify alert details, assess risks and access syntactically correct remediation steps. The integration aims to enhance the response process and allow teams to remediate issues more efficiently and improve their overall threat-handling capabilities.

Fortinet says the new integrations expand its commitment to AI innovation in cybersecurity through the integration of generative AI across its product suite.

Existing integrations include FortiAI for FortiAnalyzer, which offers real-time threat analysis, prioritization and automated response, and FortiAI for FortiManager, which simplifies network configuration and troubleshooting and automates remediation of network vulnerabilities.

Other generative AI-powered tools from the company include FortiAI for FortiSIEM, which provides contextual intelligence for investigating security alerts, and FortiAI for FortiSOAR, which optimizes threat investigations and automates playbook creation. Other AI services, such as FortiAI for FortiDLP, help security teams by summarizing and contextualizing high-risk data.

“Our commitment to AI innovation is reflected in our expansion of generative AI, which now enhances seven different products across our portfolio,” said Chief Marketing Officer John Maddison. “By integrating FortiAI in such a broad range of solutions, we’re equipping our customers with powerful, adaptive tools that transform how they manage and respond to cyberthreats.”

Fortinet was previously in the news in August when it expanded its unified secure access service edge solution with sovereign options and AI integration. The introduction of sovereign SASE gave organizations that use Fortinet’s services more control over their data and security operations.
