Dell tackles complex DevOps challenges with innovative AI-powered tools

Artificial intelligence is reshaping how industries approach complex tasks, particularly in software development. With the rise of AI-powered tools, developers are finding new ways to streamline workflows, solve problems and create faster, smarter applications.

Dell Technologies Inc.’s new AI PCs and the Dell Pro AI Studio aim to address many of the challenges faced by developers by simplifying processes and removing bottlenecks.

Dell’s Marc Hammons speaks to theCUBE about the challenges that AI-powered tools can address.

Dell’s Marc Hammons speaks to theCUBE about the challenges of working with multiple tool chains and frameworks and how AI-powered tools can address them.

“As you know, it’s been a fantastic year for AI, especially for the AI PC — iIt’s kind of the new kid on the block,” said Marc Hammons (pictured), senior distinguished engineer at Dell Technologies. “Through the years, we’ve had IHVs out there with great CPU, GPU performance, but now there’s a new component … the neural processing unit. [Dell Pro AI Studio is] going to layer on top and simplify things for developers.”

Hammons spoke with theCUBE’s Savannah Peterson for the Dell Bets Big on AI PCs at CES 2025 event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. Hammons spoke about AI-powered tools and the challenges of working with multiple tool chains and frameworks, highlighting how Dell’s innovations are designed to address these obstacles and deliver solutions tailored for enterprise use cases. Simplifying software development with AI-powered tools

One of the most significant challenges in AI development is navigating the variety of tools, frameworks and models. Dell Pro AI Studio helps tackle this by curating validated AI models and providing reference code to help developers bootstrap projects more efficiently. This approach significantly reduces time-to-market for applications, according to Hammons.

“We’ll bring them down, we’ll take a look,  we’ll build some reference code around them, kind of kick the tires and figure out what works well,” he said. “Maybe you’re trying to do super resolution; maybe you’re doing image search. We’ll do the hunting and pecking and build those things out for you and make them available as part of Dell Pro AI Studio.”

Another standout feature of the AI Studio is its ability to operate offline, offering real-time problem-solving for field use cases. Hammons described scenarios where AI PCs could act as agents, providing on-the-spot solutions without requiring network connectivity.

“You can imagine that you had all your collateral right there on the system … and right there immediately, without having network connectivity, it can craft a response to help drive that conversation,” Hammons shared.

Looking beyond immediate use cases, tools such as Dell’s Pro AI Studio are helping democratize expertise by making advanced resources more accessible. By focusing on practical solutions, Dell’s AI innovations are paving the way for developers to solve complex problems more efficiently, while also expanding access to cutting-edge technology, according to Hammons.

“With AI, suddenly there’s an expert at your disposal,” he said. “And when you take that and you apply the creative forces that we all have, suddenly you can do all kinds of things that you’ve never been able to do before.”
