Bonterra Que brings agentic AI to nonprofits for smarter fundraising and grant management

Nonprofit technology provider Bonterra LLC today announced the launch of Bonterra Que, a full agentic artificial intelligence platform purpose-built for the “social good sector,” spanning the entire ecosystem of funders, nonprofits and supporters.

Que has been designed to be different from generative AI tools by not just analyzing or advising, but also acting and helping nonprofits and foundations expand their capacity, raise more money and connect with the right partners.

Bonterra Que, embedded directly into Bonterra’s product suite, functions like additional teammates without the need for new tools and training. The agent works behind the scenes within familiar workflows and, in doing so, frees up staff to focus on relationships and results instead of repetitive tasks.

Whether helping a small nonprofit leader juggling many roles or guiding a foundation executive managing dozens of grants, Bonterra says, Que adapts to the unique challenges of social good organizations.

“Que doesn’t replace the humans doing this important work; it makes them superhuman,” said Chief Technology Officer Tanuja Korlepra. “By clearing away repetitive tasks and surfacing trusted insights, Que frees organizations to focus on what truly matters: delivering impact to the communities they serve.”

The offering addresses critical challenges faced by nonprofits, where Bonterra claims that technology for the social good sector has overpromised and underdelivered. Bonterra first introduced predictive AI models as far back as 2017 and Que builds on that foundation with agentic AI that goes beyond delivering insights to taking action, all while keeping humans in control.

Que addresses key pain points experienced by nonprofits, including amplifying human potential by automating repetitive work so staff can focus on people and outcomes. The offering, the nonprofit says, fuels meaningful connections by proactively matching funders, nonprofits and supporters across the Bonterra Network and turns insight into impact by delivering trusted, timely and contextual recommendations based on the largest relational data set in social good.

The service is powered by a connected system of intelligent skills designed to tackle everyday challenges in fundraising and grant making.

For nonprofits, fundraising skills include personalized coaching to strengthen strategy, donor stewardship insights to deepen relationships, donor segmentation based on giving behavior and interests and automated form and email creation with human approval in the loop. For those seeking grants, Que can automatically match nonprofits with high-fit funding opportunities and generate tailored draft proposals based on both the nonprofit’s profile and the funder’s requirements.

To help founders, Que assists with grantmaking by connecting programs with verified nonprofits from Bonterra’s network of more than 180,000 organizations. It also offers grant scoring tools that identify the most aligned applicants, reduce potential biases in the awarding process and increase overall transparency in funding decisions.

“With Que, we’re not simply advancing technology; we’re fueling what we call the Generosity Generation, a movement where data, insight and human connection converge to unlock greater impact,” said Chief Executive Scott Brighton. “The recommendations we deliver go beyond intelligence. They are contextual, credible and always designed to strengthen human relationships.”
