Rubrik unveils Google Workspace protection offering with rapid recovery and air-gapped backups

Cloud data management and data security company Rubrik Inc. today announced the launch of Rubrik Data Protection for Google Workspace

The new security offering, Rubrik says, allows the more than 11 million enterprises using Google Drive and Gmail to use Rubrik features to help them achieve end-to-end cyber resilience. Google Workspace holds mission-critical data for millions in organizations worldwide who cannot lose access to these tools or their data. Rubrik Data Protection can now help Google Workspace customers reduce the risk of significant data and business losses or suspended operations.

“Organizations can’t protect data in isolation,” said Rubrik Chief Product Officer Anneka Gupta. “Modern resilience requires us to see the entire estate at once.” That means protecting three pillars of resilience – data, identity and artificial intelligence.

With Rubrik Data Protection for Google Workspace, Google Workspace customers can now access Rubrik features, including logical air-gap protection, which offers immutable, air-gapped backups for Gmail and Google Drive and high-fidelity rapid recovery.

Other features include automated, policy-driven service level agreements that offer additional layers of protection to meet strict recovery point objective and recovery time objective requirements and continuity, with a “point-and-click” experience that slashes recovery times from days to just minutes.

The launch of Rubrik Data Protection for Google Workspace comes as cyberattacks, misconfigurations and insider threats are evolving. Attackers increasingly targeting identity systems and software-as-a-service platforms versus simply infrastructure. That’s creating new gaps in protection that require more integrated approaches.

With enterprises increasingly shifting critical workloads and collaboration tools into cloud-based environments such as Google Workspace, Rubrik is offering a needed cyber resilience platform that combines backup, security and identity protection into a single operational layer.

Rubrik will demonstrate the new offering at the Google Cloud Next 2026 event in Las Vegas April 22-24.
