Accenture beefs up cloud services play with two more acquisitions
Technology consultancy Accenture Plc on Thursday announced it’s buying two more startups, bringing its total number of acquisitions this summer to seven.
The company said it’s acquiring the marketing and sales consultancy Brand Learning Partners Ltd., in addition to finalizing a deal for Search Technologies Corp., which provides consulting and implementation services for data analytics products. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The acquisitions appear to be part of a concerted effort by Accenture to support its transformation into a provider of enterprise cloud services. In June the company snapped up Texas-based informatics consultancy LabAnswer, and a few weeks later acquired Boston-based mobile design company Intrepid LLC in support of this goal.
With regard to Brand Learning, the acquisition seems to be aimed at bolstering Accenture’s consulting services for human resource, marketing and sales teams. Accenture said in a release that the acquisition will enhance its offerings in these areas, allowing it to deliver “end-to-end solutions” that help clients to create more integrated customer experiences.
“More than 90 percent of CMOs [chief marketing officer] say marketing will undergo fundamental change in the next five years, driven by analytics, digital, and mobile technologies,” Laura Gurski, senior managing director and head of Accenture’s Customer and Channels practice for several industries, said in a statement. “With increasing digital innovation and personalized customer engagement, the marketing and sales functions are now seen as the key driver of top-line growth.”
As for Search Technologies, it appears that Accenture’s goal here is to strengthen its pool of data scientists and engineers specializing in data analytics and artificial intelligence systems.
In another release, Accenture said it would be integrating Search Technologies’ proprietary Content Processing Framework and collection of data connectors with its Accenture Insights Platform. The idea here is that Accenture’s customers can more easily embed analytics and AI into their systems. Meanwhile, Search Technologies’ team of data scientists will become a part of the Accenture Analytics business unit, focusing on building solutions that make unstructured content such as audio, social media, video and voice more searchable.
Accenture said it will also create a new delivery center in Costa Rica, which will house more than 70 of Search Technologies’ big data engineers who reside in that country. The company said this team will focus on customer and content analytics in tandem with its digital content production and marketing services professionals.
Meanwhile, Search Technologies’ president and chief executive officer Kamran Khan will head up a new content analytics team within Accenture Analytics.
“Search Technologies’ vision is very closely aligned with Accenture’s, and this acquisition will help us play a major role in building the future of big data, enterprise search, and AI as we integrate our capabilities onto AIP and leverage the scale of Accenture to globalize our offerings,” Khan said.
Other acquisitions this summer include Accenture’s purchase of SolutionsIQ Inc., Phase One Consulting Group Inc. and Clearhead.
