Most People Don’t Mind Twitter’s New Promoted Tweets [InfoGraphic]

Erick Schonfeld highlighted on Techcrunch yesterday a survey from “Twitter Sentiment” that indicated that over 71% of Twitter users hated the idea of “Promoted Tweets.” What wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the post was that the statistics and graph generated by Twitter Sentiment was based on the survey results, according to the accompanying graphic, of 14 Twitter users.

We polled our friends at ViralHeat to see what their stats showed, and based on the analysis of a more respectable 6,357 tweets, the results are more believable.

Highlights:

– 77% speak positively about the idea of Promoted Tweets, and nearly 10% are vocally negative.

– Most of that opinion is original thought, rather than amplified opinion via retweets.

-  The conversation on this is far from settled, because based on what we’re observing strictly on the discussion volume graph, it’s still sharply rising from the announcement.
