Quest Software Release Automates on VMware ESX, Microsoft Hyper-V

Quest Software is taking advantage of some key players in the cloud market to offer an updated version of vFoglight, the firm’s solution for application visibility and virtualization.   vFoglight 6.5’s release brings an enhanced automation of virtual infrastructures, simplifying the  workload on virtual servers.  Hence, the cost to maintain the efficiency of performance management drops down.

Stretching support to both VMware ESX and Microsoft Hyper-V, Quest Software hedges its bets, sidling application infrastructure management for Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange.  This is a big development push from a number of tiered data-management solutions, particularly around the automation end.

There are new characteristics featured in vFoglight’s upgrades, including event remediation, user perspectives and administration. Also, the release brings a solution for physical storage monitoring and for gauging performance. The management function is being done through the vCenter server.

Chadd Warwick, one of the system architects with CSS Hosted Systems appraised the software:

“As our infrastructures become increasingly complex and we move critical applications to virtual infrastructures, it was becoming a challenge for us to keep control and understand performance and capacity-related metrics. vFoglight answered those critical needs for me. In a single tool, I can manage the virtual layer and get visibility <up the stack> into our infrastructure and applications. It’s much simpler and has been a quick ROI for us.”

The necessity of software similar to vFoglight is imminent amongst the enterprise, because the production applications and workloads which run on virtual servers is getting bigger and bigger.  A managing interface, which integrates and automates the workflow in real-time was needed, and Quest Software, like many others in the space, is striving towards a centralized and automated solution.

The vice president and general manager of Virtualization Management and Monitoring at Qiest Software, Carl Eberling explains which vFoglight was a demanded solution:

“Above and beyond other products on the market, vFoglight has been developed to maximize performance, speed problem resolution and ensure capacity across heterogeneous virtual, physical, and cloud infrastructures.  The proof is the more than 25,000 customers who use Quest every day to simplify the management of their complex virtual environments.”

VMware has been steadily attending to its partner count, EMC being one of the latest to prove fruitful, though EMC is regularly updating support for Hyper-V as well.  Cisco and Zimbra are a few of VMware’s other recent partners, spanning a few different industries with its virtual solutions provisions.  Microsoft’s been ahead with a number of server releases in the past few weeks, including the Denali.
