Google TV Delaying Expectations, Others Affected by Lags
Expected to be released at CES this coming January, Google delays the launch of its Google TV. The prolongation affects other hi-tech manufactures such as Toshiba, LG Electronics and Sharp, which are to present their Google TV devices after the release of the new software. Insisting to present their products at CES, Vizo and Samsung will go ahead with their Google TV appliances.
Google is having difficulties in releasing the final product because if their plan for improving the software. The re-design keeps in mind the development of more complex software, after several networks blocked Google TV.
Network distributors claim that their profits from traditional deals are more interesting than affiliating with Google’s free service. Opting for a hybrid solution, Hulu announced that they agree with distributing their content (FOX, ABC and NBC) only through Hulu Plus.

Manufacturers are still hopeful, as Sony is positive about the up-coming launch of Google TV, which is said to be “in line with expectations.” Sony seems to cooperate more lucratively with the Google TV project that with the handsets. Predictions for Sony’s application of Google TV are said to be met during 2011, although officials say that users might need some time before discovering the real entertainment of the new Google service.
Intel, after launching the TV Smart initiative in NYC, is missing content in its adverts regarding Google TV. This strange depiction shows how Intel is pulling away from Google TV initiative.
In the competition with the big players, Google TV is going to struggle between Apple TV and Microsoft, which reported 2.5 million Kinects in the last 20 days. The fierce contribution of each side: Google TV, Apple TV, Microsoft or traditional TV Networks, are playing harsh strategies in order to conquer the opportunity that online industry is offering now, for this new and innovative market segment. In U.S., the same spent on TV is getting smaller that the hours spent on internet, for information, socialization or entertainment.
