Many are relentlessly waiting for announcements from popular on-demand video streaming sites regarding their extension to the Android platform. Just recently, Samsung spilled the beans at CES that Hulu Plus is on its way. There were no particulars added during this initial announcement, but at least we knew something’s going to be up soon. However, today, Samsung finally made an official announcement naming four video streaming sites: Adobe, Comcast, Time Warner and Hulu, as partners to the Samsung Tab and TVs running on Android platform. Hulu seems to be everywhere but Android.
Hulu plus subscriptions will be available on Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy S, as announced by Hulu CEO Jason Kilar during his brief appearance. It was also said in a recent Hulu blog post that they are working on an Android 2.2 app which will roll-out in the coming months. “We’ll announce further details as soon as we have an official launch date and complete list of Hulu Plus-enabled Android phones,” Hulu said.” From Hulu’s blog:
“Since we launched Hulu Plus, it’s been our goal to continue to add more platforms and devices to the subscription service to offer you as many ways as possible to stream the shows you want, whenever you want. We’re excited to share the following news.
During Samsung’s keynote at CES today, Hulu CEO Jason Kilar announced for the first time that Hulu is working to bring the Hulu Plus subscription service to select Android™ phones (running Android OS 2.2), and gave the audience a sneak peek at the Hulu Plus Android app during the presentation. Hulu Plus will be available on select Android mobile phones in coming months; we’ll announce further details as soon as we have an official launch date and complete list of Hulu Plus-enabled Android phones. We hope you’re as excited as we are!”
And as such, we’re expecting Netflix to be planning the same move as well. But for now that there’s no official announcement from them whatsoever, we can only look up the stars and wonder.
