Auditude Starts the Year with $11M, New CEO

Video monetization company Auditude is having a good start to this year. It today announced a Series B funding of $11 million, which will be used to develop its industry-leading technology as it expands further into mobile video, IP-enabled devices and premium distribution channels. The round was led by Granite Ventures, with participation from existing investors Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures, as well as a new investor, Silicon Valley Bank. Another company kicker is the appointment of former United Online Media Group president and Advertising.com senior executive, Jeremy Helfand, as Auditude’s new chief executive officer.

As former president of United Online Media Group, Helfand managed all advertising and partnership revenue for United Online which includes the launch of Adcurate, an audience platform. He also served as senior vice president and general manager of Advertising.com and implemented revenue strategies that boosted the company’s revenue sixfold.  The acquisition of Advertising.com by AOL/Time Warner for $500 million was also attributed to his management.

Helfand will succeed Adam Cahan, who is taking a new role as CEO of IntoNow, a technology startup also backed by Greylock Partners and Redpoint Ventures. Auditude’s world-class global team, attracted blue-chip customers and investors, as well as its industry-leading platform are all attributed to Cahan.

“I’m excited to leave Auditude in the capable hands of Jeremy, who brings the right vision and experience to guide this company and our team to continued industry leadership,” said Cahan. “With this team, technology and funding in place, Auditude is in the best position to lead the market as the worlds of television, online and mobile converge.”

The Auditude platform handles billions of monthly premium video impressions on top of some of the world’s finest video clients such as Comcast, Dailymotion, Dick Clark Productions, Fox News, Lionsgate, Major League Baseball, UK’s Channel Five, Sony Music, Starz Media, Universal Music Group, World Wrestling Entertainment, Yahoo! etc.

“The explosive growth and opportunity in IP-based video is unquestionable,” said Helfand. “The key challenges for content owners, publishers and advertisers are managing, distributing and effectively monetizing premium video. The Auditude team has done an amazing job of building this business and we’re going to leverage the strong momentum to become the de facto monetization platform for IP-based video.”

Speech/text translation is going to become a flourishing trend. Even search giant Google is focusing on this area of development so at to release a service called Google Translate embedded into its Google Voice.  Also, there has been significant investments on intelligent video search and analytics such as 3VR and Pixability’s new Online Video Grader, also announced today.
